Elementary Levantine Arabic, Spring 2012

This class is an introduction to the conversational Levantine Arabic dialect spoken in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.

Students will work on conversation and pronunciation skills in order to achieve confidence and fluency in day-to-day situations.

Course material will be drawn from textbooks, handouts, and audio/video. Students will be introduced to Arabic culture and traditions through expressions and idioms, song, cinema, books, food, and famous figures from the Arabic world.

Prerequisite: Open to students who have completed at least Level I (preferably Level 2) in Modern Standard Arabic (FusHa), and who have the ability to read and write Arabic script.

Tuition & Schedule:
$500 (for member discounts, see here)
Saturdays, 1:00 - 2:50pm
January 21 - April 7 (12 sessions)

Payment must be received in full before the first class session. We cannot accommodate students who wish to sit in on a class before deciding to enroll. However, the Language Coordinator, Iman Meiki, is available to answer any questions about course content and materials, and student placement:
If you drop the class after the first session, you will be reimbursed 75% of the fees. No reimbursements will be made after attending the second class.
Late Registration
Late registration decisions are made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Language Coordinator. Students allowed to join the class after the first meeting will be charged the full tuition.
