Palestine in Focus, a traveling exhibition, displays, for the first time in the U.S, The Freedom Theatre’s reach beyond theater and drama. Featuring photographs, film clips and oral narratives, the multi-media show offers an opportunity to look through the lens of residents of a refugee camp under military occupation and to hear the views of Freedom Theatre professionals on the role of art as a tool of resistance.

Mustafa Sheta, General Secretary of The Freedom Theatre, Mohammed Haj Ibrahim, Coordinator of the Multi-media Department; Baraa Sharqawi, Photography teacher; and Hala Dhiab, a photography student will be accompanying the show.

About the Jenin Freedom Theatre:

The Freedom Theatre - located in the Jenin Refugee Camp - was founded in 2006 with a mission to foster creativity and independent thinking in refugee youth who deal with vicissitudes of military occupation on a daily basis. Best known for its drama school and its bold and inventive theater productions, The Freedom Theatre has staged 25 productions (original plays and adaptations) in its ten years of its existence. Its productions have toured in Brazil, France, Germany, India, Portugal, the United States and the United Kingdom and in over 50 communities in the West Bank, reaching more than 100,000 adults and children.
