Asef Ala El-Ezaag (Sorry for the Disturbance), is a comedy, but not in the ordinary sense. Though the film’s early premise gives the impression that it is a standard romantic comedy, in fact, its abundant heartbreaking moments make it decidedly different. Sorry for the Disturbance is, first and foremost, a delicate story of loneliness, grief and new age paranoia, and the stage of perhaps Ahmed Helmy’s most impressive screen performances.

The film revolves around the life of a troubled young aviation engineer (Helmy). Although he is successful at his job and leads an ordinary life, he feels lonely, out of place, and depressed. One day he meets a beautiful girl at a cafe (Shalaby), and starts dating her. His life is turned upside down, as he realizes he is suffering from schizophrenia, with visual hallucinations of his late father, and his girlfriend.

The film was one of the two highest grossing films in Egypt of 2008, winning won first prize at the Egyptian National Film Festival and the Dear Guest magazine award for best movie of 2008. Helmy won the Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema Festival award for Best Actor for the third year running, and the film won Best Film, Best Director, Best Script, and Best Production.
