Persian Improvisations With Omid Lotfi On Setar, Daf and Divan
He is one the most accomplished musicians today, son and disciple of renowned Master Mohammad Reza Lotfi
Omid was born in 1977 and raised in Iran - Tehran. While living in Tehran he had the good fortune of being a part the musical family of Kamkar, especially by his mother Ghashang Kamkar and also his father Mohammad Reza Lotfi, and to learn music from them. After receiving training from his family for almost ten years, Omid settled in Iran and began teaching Setar in 1995. In a country still sharply divided by differences of caste and religion, the courses offered by Omid have attracted many people from every part of society.
He immigrated to Canada to study in 1997 and immigrated again to USA in 2004. Between the age of fifteen and nineteen Omid gave as a member of Kamkars Ensemble numerous concerts in Iran and abroad, among them are: - Vahdat Auditorium of Iran. - Azadi Cultural Complex of Iran. - Theatre de la Ville of France. - Womad Real world International festival of England directed by Peter Gabriel. - Queen Elizabeth Hall of England. - Puchberg of Austria. - Reorient of Sweden. - Berwald Hallen of Sweden. - Vancouver Folk International Music festival of Canada. - Calgary Folk International Music festival of Canada. - Harbourfront Center - International Music festival - Rhythems of the World of Canada. - Iranska Mehr Center of Sweden. - Theater Aan Het Vrijthof of Switzerland. - Musiques Metisses of France. - Berwaldhallen of Sweden. - StiftelsenFramtidens kultur of Sweden - Ecole de Musique of Montreal - Canada and many others.
He has also played on many albums , among them are : - GolNishan Kamkar ensemble - Produced by Art House Record Company.
