Alwan for the Arts is excited to announce the continuation of weekly Arabic Instruction this fall. We will be offering three courses, taught by instructor Iman Meiki who has taught Arabic at Columbia University, NYU, the New School, and Queens College as well as in Palestine and England.


Modern Standard Arabic I
Saturdays, 11:00am-12:50pm | Sept. 8 - Dec. 1

This elementary course in Modern Standard Arabic introduces students to the Arabic alphabet, and will focus on the skills of reading, writing, listening, and pronunciation.

Modern Standard Arabic III
Wednesday Evenings, 6:15-8:05pm | Sept. 5 - Nov. 28

This course is designed for students with experience with Modern Standard Arabic and will cover chapters 4-9 of Al-Kitaab, including vocabulary and grammatical structures necessary for better comprehension in Modern Standard Arabic.
Skills will be developed in listening, reading and speaking.

Intermediate Levantine Colloquial Arabic
Saturdays, 1:00-2:50pm | Sept. 8 - Dec. 1

This course is designed for students who have finished one level of Levantine Colloquial Arabic to practice conversation and dialouge.
The course will focus on developing listening skills through videos and DVDS.

All classes will meet for 12 sessions (no class 11/21 & 11/24 for Thanksgiving)
